Hi there, thanks for stopping by!

Photo of a young 21 year old girl on the carrick a rede rope bridge outside of Belfast, Ireland. She smiles at the camera wearing a winter hat along with a rain jacket and rain boots. There is a large green hill with a few people in the background on a cloudy day.

My name is Alex Hargrave and I’m a junior English and communications major at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA, originally from Wilkes-Barre, PA. I’m a writer who is primarily interested in journalism and other forms of storytelling.

The journalism field is one that is often considered to be dying, but in a way, it is more alive now than it ever was. We need journalists now more than ever. I believe in telling stories; stories of people, places, occurrences, etc. to give people information and to make people happy. People deserve transparency from the entities they trust. Without journalists who seek to uncover and tell truths, are we living in a democracy? As the Washington Post proudly displays on their website, I believe that "democracy dies in darkness."

Aside from storytelling, my passions include traveling, coffee, books and dogs. I spent a semester abroad in Galway, Ireland, and I am spending a month in South Africa this coming June. My mantra is say yes to everything (within reason).
